NMIFF welcomes the entry of a short film “Gecekondu Mahallesi: Shanty Town” from Turkey, DIRECTED by Emrah KİLİC.

"Shanties are an expression of people's freedom to build and form their own unique living areas in a city. "Shantytown" is about a small section of the city which resists getting suppressed and jammed by these urban transformation projects of skyscrapers and "modern" buildings. The film tells the story of a "day in the life of a shantytown by focusing on two small town vendors in an effort to make them more visible."
