It is estimated that today 20 percent of the city's adult population lives with type 2 diabetes. "Sweet Malady" sheds light on the global phenomenon of medical non-compliance. Simply put, the film tries to help audiences reflect on the role of modern medicine in promoting wellness beyond disease

Synopsis: It’s a peculiar period of Zara’s life, as she needs to plan her wedding with Ravi, a man with whom she is engaged in an arranged marriage. Zara is doubtful over her future – she feels that the significant other of hers is not the man she wants to grow old with. He doesn’t know the slightest about her, and she hadn’t had previous experiences to compare what a healthy relationship looks like.
One day, while conversating with her best friend, Zara learns about a dating app called The Caste-away, which takes into consideration which caste you are and finds matches with other people in the same one. She is hesitant at first.
Interestingly, at the same time, nearby, an aspiring man by the name of Dev stays overtime at work, while his soon to be wife begs him to come home early. It turns out that Dev’s situation is not so different from Zara’s. Dev’s is about to get married to Prita in a marriage that’s been arranged by their parents.
Destiny is about to change when Dev installs the same dating app, and soon, he accidentally matches up with Zara.
Little by little, they become aware of what they’ve done, and their chatting becomes a source of joy – it helped Zara cope with depression, and it helped Dev in his confidence. They successfully manage to lead a double life, without their companions realizing what’s going on and focusing on the marriage preparations.
When the situation reaches a point of no return, Zara agrees to meet Dev in person. They share their romantic moments and it couldn’t have been better than this. Zara decides to leave Ravi and tells him everything about her lover. Meanwhile, Dev writes a letter to Prita in which he declares his secrets as well. He promises Zara that he will stand up for himself and break up his miserable relationship.
In an unexpected turn of events, Zara is stood up when she finds out that Dev’s been a coward who couldn’t send the letter and decided to stay.
