Synopsis: Emma, a Filipino writer and filmmaker, leaves the Philippines for the promise of opportunity and a new life in Canada, following the violent murder of her best friend, Camille, by Philippine police. She leaves behind her girlfriend, Tinang, who continues the fight for justice on Camille's behalf, and begins to establish herself as a creator in Canada with the help of Stallings, a producer who's fully assimilated into Canadian life and wants to forget their Filipino roots.

Despite her efforts to start a new life, Emma is, quite literally, haunted by the specter of the friend - and the history - that she tried so hard to forget.
