3rd Navi Mumbai International Film Festival NMIFF-2016 welcomes the submission Professional Shorts "The Strange Smile" from India, Directed by Arshad Eqbal.

Behind every smile is story. Sometimes it tells us about the person smiling and often it tells us something about ourselves. Our story will do a little of both. Barkati was born in a kabristan of a little town that time had forgotten. Her parents died early and that role was fulfilled by her grandfather Jumman the grave digger. As time would pass the little girl soon learned that the small joys of her life were directly related to the arrival of body for burial. Arrival of a body would mean happiness for her and that very thought brought smile on her face. In the stillness of time, life carried on. She entered into her youth, got married and had a son. Things were usual until one day her own son died. The loss of her child devastated her. But then suddenly she smiled. It was noticed by her husband and others. And that strange smile became curse for her life.
