3rd Navi Mumbai International Film Festival NMIFF-2016 welcomes the submission of Professional Shorts "Bacteria" from Belgium, Directed by Cyril Fleury.

"Bacteria" is a scientific story about the research being carried out on how bacteria works ad the new techniques and methods to fight against these toxic germs. Bacteria are everywhere, in the soil, in the air, in the water and on and in our body. The huge majority lives in perfect harmony with us. In the intestines, for example, bacteria enable nutritional substances to be absorbed into the blood and they also play an essential role in our immune system. But, at the same time, some of them can also be very dangerous, even fatal, and today there is a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly worrying, the appearance of strains that are multiresistant to most currently available antibiotic drugs. In some cases of very serious infections, doctors end up finding themselves faced with what is called a therapeutic impasse, i.e. an inability to find a treatment that will cure the patient. The scientific and medical community has therefore decided to take action and attempt to halt this phenomenon. Numerous laboratories are carrying out research into how bacteria work in order to find new methods to fight these toxic germs. The challenge is a huge one and the means being deployed are too…
