After the tragic events of 1922 (Turkish – Greek war) the Ankara Convention of October 1930 ushered in a period of rapprochement, between two nations. The agreement also suggested that sporting and cultural initiatives ought to be pursued as a means of bringing people and organizations together from both sides. Just after signing of Ankara Convention, friendly football games begins between two countries. 87 Minutes is the story of a historical football match played between F.C Lailapas of Chios (Greece) and Karşıyaka S.K of İzmir (Turkey) in December 1930 but abondoned after just 3 minutes due to heavy rain. The documentary witnesses the efforts of the successful resurrection of the game.
