NMIFF welcomes the entry of a short documentary film “Afluentes” from UK, DIRECTED by João Meirinhos.

"'Afluentes' are small rivers or streams that flow towards a bigger river or lake.This documentary deals with the increase of 'spiritual tourists' in the Peruvian Amazon, neo-shamanism and the healing potential of traditional indigenous and/or mestizo plant medicine.
In this case, the 'bigger river or lake' symbolizes Ayahuasca - the psychedelic brew, the mysterious so called 'the vine of the dead' that brings together a teacher, a traveler and a desperate man to the same place."

"Nandu an 8 year old boy from small village of Maharashtra belongs to a poor family. One day he gets the news of Patil (head of the village) organizing the feast and Puranpoli (sweet dish) will be the course of the feast.He gets the desire to have the Puranpoli. How he struggle and what situations he creates to get the Puranpoli the short film revolves around his innocent efforts. "

Jashn-E-Daawat is a 4 minute documentary on the indulging, intriguing, scrumptious & religious Mohamed Ali Road in South Mumbai.The street is lit up brightly every night during the holy month of Ramadan, where followers of Islam keep day long fasts & feast in the night.The film shows the true essence of the spirit of Islam as a religion, the festivity among the people & the unity which binds all religions together.The famous Chicken tandoori & seekh kebabs along with tempting Phirnee & Malpua have been shown in the documentary. We’ve tried to bring out the beauty, the festivity which happens every year at Mohamed Ali Road."

NMIFF welcomes the entry of a short film “Gutthi:The Riddle” from India, DIRECTED by Abhishek Chatterjee.

"Noted writer Anand Rajan catches the building\'s garbage collector, Khalil, searching frantically through his dustbin. Suffering from a writer\'s block, he becomes curious about Khalil and starts spying upon him. This leads to revelation of some very interesting things about the man and in order to delve deep into his life Rajan invites him over to his house for a session of weed.
The lonely writer very soon finds a friend in this unusual company and starts warming up to him. They both start sharing queer incidents from their lives with each other.
Gutthi ( The Riddle ) is a story about this night-long conversation they have and how this leads to unlocking of several mysteries in their lives."
